There are these moments in life, when I am contemplating a painting, reading a book, or experiencing a dance performance, when I am struck by the genius of the artwork. It is difficult to say what it is exactly, something resonates in me, hits on a nerve. The Russion actor and director Michael Chekhov got to the point by differentiating four factors, ease, shape, integrity, and beauty. I would like to comment on this enumeration, taking into account my own experiences with theatre.
