Hamburg was the first station of my summer voyage through Germany. I took the direct ICE service from Zurich to Hamburg, crossing Germany completely from South to North. The reason for going there was that my sister had recently moved to Hamburg.

Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg

The most famous construction site in Hamburg is the Elbphilharmonie.

In two days we visited the main attractions of the city, the landing bridges, the inner city and even Hamburg-Harburg in the South of the city. The absolute highlight was a pedalo trip on the Alster, we also entered some of the channels.

On the Alster with sun shine.

On the second day a heave thunderstorm made its way through the city. Luckily I was close the the church St. Michaelis, taking some pictures from the tower during the rain.

Hamburg is a nice place, I will surely return for another visit.
